Abstract

Education remains one of the major social challenges in Indonesia, particularly in ensuring equitable access to education in remote and underdeveloped regions. Persistent disparities in educational quality, limited infrastructure, and shortages of qualified teachers have encouraged the emergence of non-profit organizations that contribute to educational development. One of these organizations is the 1000 Guru Foundation through its Traveling and Teaching program, which combines volunteer teaching activities with educational expeditions to remote areas. This study aims to analyze the organizational communication strategies employed by the 1000 Guru Foundation in fostering public participation through the Traveling and Teaching program. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach using document analysis. Data were collected through the organization's official website, social media content, activity reports, and relevant literature, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques. The study is grounded in Organizational Communication Theory, Social Engagement Theory, and the concept of Community Relations. The findings reveal that the 1000 Guru Foundation implements integrated communication strategies through structured internal communication, transparent external communication, digital storytelling, two-way communication, information transparency, and collaboration with various stakeholders. These strategies successfully strengthen public trust, encourage volunteer participation, foster emotional engagement, and build sustainable relationships between the organization and the community. Furthermore, the effective utilization of digital media has enabled the organization not only to disseminate information but also to create an interactive community that actively supports its educational mission. This study concludes that organizational communication serves as a strategic instrument for non-profit organizations in enhancing community participation and sustaining volunteer-based educational programs. The findings contribute to the development of organizational communication studies, particularly in understanding communication strategies that promote social engagement within educational non-profit organizations.
