Analisis Framing Pemberitaan Aksi Penjarahan Indomaret oleh Warga Sibolga pada Peristiwa Banjir Sumatera di Media Online Detik.com dan Tribunnews.com

Abstract

                  Online media play an important role in disseminating information while shaping public understanding of events through the framing of news. Different media perspectives may result in different presentations of the same event. This study aims to analyze the framing of news coverage on the looting of an Indomaret store by Sibolga residents during the Sumatra flood as reported by the online media Detik.com and Tribunnews.com. This study employed a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach using Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model. The unit of analysis consisted of news texts published by Detik.com and Tribunnews.com regarding the looting incident between November 29 and December 2, 2025. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed by identifying the four framing elements proposed by Robert N. Entman, namely define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgments, and treatment recommendations. Source triangulation was also employed to ensure the validity of the data. The findings indicate that Detik.com framed the looting as a consequence of an emergency situation caused by the flood, emphasizing the chronology of the incident, the causes of the looting, and the government's and law enforcement's response. In contrast, Tribunnews.com framed the looting as part of the social conditions experienced by flood-affected communities by highlighting humanitarian aspects, limited access to basic necessities, and the importance of accelerating aid distribution and post-disaster recovery. These findings demonstrate that differences in media emphasis produce different framings of the same event. Therefore, the media are expected to present news accurately, objectively, and with consideration of the context of events so that the public can obtain more comprehensive information.
