This study aims to determine the effect of academic burnout on the learning motivation of students at SMA Negeri 1 X, Karawang Regency, during the 2026/2027 academic year. The study employs a quantitative approach utilizing a survey method and an associative research design. The sample was selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection was conducted via questionnaires that had passed validity and reliability tests. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression analysis, the coefficient of determination test, and a partial test (t-test) using SPSS version 30 software. The results indicate that academic burnout has a significant negative effect on students' learning motivation. This is evidenced by the t-test results, which yielded a calculated t-value of -2.970 and a significance value of 0.003—below the 0.05 significance threshold—thereby confirming the research hypothesis. The regression coefficient of -0.153 indicates that any increase in academic burnout is accompanied by a decrease in students' learning motivation. These findings demonstrate that higher levels of academic burnout correspond to lower levels of learning motivation. The results align with the theories of Maslach and Leiter and are supported by previous studies identifying academic burnout as a factor contributing to low learning motivation. Consequently, concerted efforts by schools, teachers, parents, and students are required to minimize academic burnout—through the management of academic workloads, the provision of psychological support, and the creation of a conducive learning environment—in order to enhance students' learning motivation.
