The prize system of the Galatama (competitive) catfish fishing event at Pemancingan Albino CS raises questions regarding its compliance with Sharia economic law, specifically concerning the ju’alah contract and the element of maysir (gambling/speculation). This study aims to analyze the application of the ju’alah contract and identify the presence of maysir elements within the Galatama catfish prize system. The research employs a socio-legal (empirical-juridical) approach using qualitative methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that the implemented prize system possesses the characteristics of a ju’alah contract, as prizes are awarded based on predetermined achievements. However, the prize distribution mechanism must adhere to Sharia principles to avoid elements of maysir . The study concludes that the Galatama catfish prize system is permissible under Sharia economic law, provided it fulfills the essential pillars and conditions of the ju’alah contract and does not involve gambling practices. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for implementing prize systems that align with Sharia principles.
