Abstrak
This study aims to analyze interpersonal communication between female Islamic teachers and female students in building discipline in memorizing the Qur’an at “Modern Al-Qur’an” Islamic Boarding School in Pekalongan, Central Java. The study is motivated by the importance of interpersonal communication in shaping students’ discipline, as memorizing the Qur’an requires persistence, consistency, and strong commitment. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving tahfidz teachers and female students as informants. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that interpersonal communication was conducted face-to-face through memorization submission activities, murojaah, and daily interactions in the boarding school environment. The teachers acted as educators, motivators, mentors, and role models for the students. A persuasive and humanistic approach proved effective in improving students’ discipline and commitment. Supporting factors included teachers’ exemplary behaviour and students’ openness, while obstacles included differences in students’ character and psychological conditions.
