The high intensity of social media use among Generation Z provides a space for the emergence of self-disclosure, which refers to the tendency of individuals to disclose personal information, thoughts, and feelings through social media. This behavior can be influenced by various psychological factors, including loneliness and self-control. This study aims to examine the effects of loneliness and self-control on self-disclosure among Generation Z users of the X application in Karawang. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal research design. The participants consisted of 205 Generation Z individuals aged 18–27 years who resided in Karawang and used the X application. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (RSDS), UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3, and Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS), and were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The results showed that loneliness and self-control simultaneously had a significant effect on self-disclosure. Partially, loneliness had a significant negative effect on self-disclosure, while self-control had a significant positive effect on self-disclosure. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.782 indicates that loneliness and self-control jointly contributed 78.2% to self-disclosure, while the remaining 21.8% was influenced by other variables not examined in this study. Thus, loneliness and self-control play a role in influencing self-disclosure among Generation Z users of the X application in Karawang.
