Relevansi Konsep Pendidikan Akhlak Imam Al-Ghazali terhadap Pembentukan Karakter Peserta Didik di Era Digital

Abstrak

The rapid development of digital technology has transformed educational practices while simultaneously creating challenges for students' character development, including declining digital ethics, weakened self-control, reduced academic integrity, and the growing culture of instant gratification and technology misuse. These challenges require an educational approach that integrates scientific competence with moral and spiritual values. This study aims to examine the relevance of Imam Al-Ghazali's concept of moral education to students' character development in the digital era and to formulate a conceptual framework applicable to contemporary education. This research employed a qualitative library research approach. Primary data were collected from Imam Al-Ghazali's major works, including Ihya' 'Ulum al-Din, Ayyuha al-Walad, Bidayat al-Hidayah, Mizan al-'Amal, and Al-Munqidz min al-Dhalal, supported by relevant books and scholarly publications. Data were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive-analytical methods. The findings indicate that the concepts of tazkiyat al-nafs (self-purification), riyadhah (self-discipline), ta'wid (habituation), uswah hasanah (exemplary conduct), muhasabah (self-reflection), and the integration of knowledge and practice remain highly relevant in fostering religious values, integrity, responsibility, discipline, and digital ethics among students. The novelty of this study lies in proposing a conceptual model of character education based on Imam Al-Ghazali's educational philosophy by integrating spiritual, moral, intellectual, and digital literacy dimensions to address the challenges of twenty-first-century education.
