Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance and emotional intelligence on the performance of Generation Z employees in the banking sector in Pontianak City. A quantitative method was employed, utilizing purposive sampling to select 100 Generation Z employees from the banking sector in Pontianak City. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results indicate that work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Similarly, emotional intelligence exerts a positive and significant influence on employee performance. These findings demonstrate that an employee's ability to maintain a balance between work and personal life, as well as their capacity to recognize and manage emotions, can facilitate superior performance. An R-square value of 0.675 indicates that 67.5% of the variation in employee performance is explained by work-life balance and emotional intelligence, while the remaining 32.5% is attributed to factors outside the research model. The study highlights the importance of organizational attention to work-life balance and the emotional capabilities of Generation Z employees as part of efforts to enhance performance within the banking sector.
