Pembelajaran PAI dan BP dengan Menggunakan Metode Multisensori bagi Siswa Tunagrahita di SLB C-C1 Yakut Purwokerto

Abstrak

This study aims to describe the implementation of the multisensory method in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education (PAI and BP) learning, as well as the learning engagement of students with intellectual disabilities at SLB C-C1 Yakut Purwokerto. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with triangulation to ensure data validity. The findings show that the multisensory method was applied through the integration of visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile stimuli in PAI and BP learning, particularly in prayer practice materials. Learning activities involved the use of pictures, audio recitations, direct demonstrations, and manipulative tasks such as tracing, matching, and pasting. The study also reveals differences in learning characteristics between students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities, which influence their level of independence and the degree of teacher assistance required during the learning process. Students’ learning engagement increased across behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects, as reflected in their activeness, enthusiasm, and ability to complete tasks according to their individual capacities. This engagement is influenced by internal factors such as emotional condition and learning concentration, as well as external factors such as instructional strategies and teacher support. Overall, the multisensory method contributes to enhancing both learning engagement and conceptual understanding of students with intellectual disabilities in PAI and BP learning.
