Pengaruh Fefo-Fifo dan Safety Zoning Terhadap Kinerja Gudang Melalui Efektivitas Pengendalian Persediaan dan Pemanfaatan WMS di IFF-PT Essence Indonesia

Abstract

    Inbound warehouses play a crucial role in ensuring raw material availability, maintaining material quality, and supporting smooth production processes. This study aims to analyze the impact of FEFO–FIFO and Safety Zoning on warehouse performance, with inventory control effectiveness serving as a mediating variable and the utilization of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) as a moderating variable at IFF–PT Essence Indonesia. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing a survey method involving 100 respondents-comprising warehouse supervisors, WMS administrators, warehouse operators, and PPIC staff. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS via SmartPLS 4. The results indicate that FEFO–FIFO has a positive and significant impact on both warehouse performance and inventory control effectiveness. Safety Zoning also positively and significantly influences warehouse performance and inventory control effectiveness. Furthermore, inventory control effectiveness was found to have a positive and significant impact on warehouse performance. Mediation analysis revealed that inventory control effectiveness mediates the relationship between FEFO–FIFO/Safety Zoning and warehouse performance. However, the utilization of a Warehouse Management System as a moderating variable did not strengthen the relationship of FEFO–FIFO or Safety Zoning with warehouse performance. These findings underscore that integrating inventory rotation systems and material grouping based on storage characteristics are key factors in enhancing inventory control effectiveness and warehouse performance at IFF–PT Essence Indonesia.
